SUMMARY:Detailed Differentiation between the Three Disciplines
DESCRIPTION:In this work\, Sakya Pandita Künga Gyaltsen (1182–1251)\, one of the founding fathers of the Sakya lineage and an eminent teacher respected by all of the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism presents the three disciplines (dom sum) that support Buddhist practice: the disciplines of individual liberation\, of a bodhisattva\, and of the vajrayana. This text explains the precepts of each as well as the apparent contradictions between their different levels. Knowledge of the diverse disciplines associated with Buddhist practice is a prerequisite for any person who seriously undertakes the Buddhist path.\nLama Jampa\, with his rich heritage from both the Sakya and Kagyü lineages\, will explain this text and clarify the divergent views concerning certain points.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lama Jampa Thaye is a scholar and meditation master in the Sakya and Karma Kagyü traditions. A British citizen born in 1952\, he has received teachings and empowerments from a great number of masters\, in particular Karma Thinley Rinpoche\, whose regent he became in 1988. He has taught at Manchester University\, where he received a doctorate for his work on Tibetan religious history. Today\, he teaches at KIBI in Delhi (Karmapa International Buddhist Institute) and around the world. He is the author of numerous works. Lama Jampa Thaye is appreciated for his knowledge of traditional texts and his ability to give commentary that is accessible for people in the West.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n• While open to all\, this teaching requires some familiarization with Buddhist philosophical ideas.• Translations: This teaching is given in English and translated into French. If you wish to listen to this course in another language (German or Spanish)\, please complete this form prior to Monday\, July 22nd. \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Fee: 20€/day\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Download the program in PDF (in French)

SUMMARY:Introduction to Lojong A Taste of Mind Training
DESCRIPTION:Mind Training is a Buddhist method of the great vehicle that allows for change to occur in the mind that is ordinarily attached to its identity and lost in a form of self-complacency. This method allows for revealing the vast compassion and profound wisdom of enlightened mind.\nThe Eight Verses of Mind Training by Geshe Langri Tangpa (1054–1123 CE) is considered the most condensed text on this practice.\nLama Jampa Thaye will base his approach to the subject on this work. If time permits\, he will also present Mind Training in a Single Session by Chim Namka Drak (1210–1285 CE)\, which introduces this specific meditation.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lama Jampa Thaye is a scholar and meditation master in the Sakya and Karma Kagyü traditions. SUMMARY:An Exceptional Visit from His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche: The Torch of Certain Meaning
DESCRIPTION:“Each of us has obtained a human existence. Its purpose is to enter the doorway of the Dharma\, and for this it is necessary for our minds to turn toward the Dharma. In order for our minds to turn toward the Dharma\, it is necessary to know the qualities of the three jewels and to develop convinced trust in them. This trust will not appear so long as we do not keep death and impermanence in mind. This is why we must begin by familiarizing ourselves with the impermanent nature of all things. The reminder of impermanence is born from understanding that it is difficult to find a human existence endowed with freedoms and wealths. The four common preliminary practices are the roots of practice.” (Translation of the preface of The Torch of Certain Meaning by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Thaye). Over the course of these four days\, H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche will introduce us to this work composed by his predecessor. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n THE 4th JAMGON KONGTRUL RINPOCHE \nEarly Life and RecognitionBirth and LineageThe 4th Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche\, born on December 17\, 1995\, in Nepal\, is the son of the 2nd Beru Khyentse Rinpoche\, a revered master and lineage holder of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. SUMMARY:The Sutra of Aspirations for Excellent Conduct
DESCRIPTION:Thaye Dorje\, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa explains the importance of the Five Royal Sutras that make up the paths of practice. Among them\, the Sutra of Aspirations for Excellent Conduct\, also known as Samantabadhra’s Wishing Prayer\, represents the path of aspiration. The bodhisattva Samantabhadra’s wishing prayers are a model for all to follow. They are recited regularly by practitioners of all traditions and are a path that\, as Karmapa says\, “is a way of consciously dreaming.” \nAfter having clarified the meaning of the Heart Sutra\, which presents the path of view\, Trinlay Rinpoche will begin the detailed explanation of the second of the Five Royal Sutras. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Trinlay Rinpoche\, born in 1975\, was recognized as a tülku—manifestation of a Buddhist master—by the 16th Karmapa (1923–1981 C.E.). He brings together a Western academic education and in-depth Buddhist training under the guidance of eminent masters like the 14th Shamarpa. His dual culture\, his mastery of three languages (English\, French\, and Tibetan)\, and his ability to communicate the depth of Buddhist thought in an accessible way make him an exceptional teacher. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n•  Translations: This teaching is given in English and translated into French.
