SUMMARY:Progressive Curriculum of Study and Meditation Chenrezig Curriculum: Year 8\, Course 2
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT MESSAGE * \nDear Dharma Practitioners\, \nIn this first month of the Year of the Fire Horse\, we continue with the eighth year of the Chenrezig cycle\, a progressive study and meditation curriculum established by Lama Jigme Rinpoche. As Rinpoche often reminds us\, this continuity allows us to deepen our practice\, to advance along the path and to obtain results. \nFollowing the cremation of His Eminence Mipham Rinpoche next February 10 at KIBI in New Delhi\, Jigme Rinpoche\, in his capacity as General Secretary of the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje\, will extend his stay in order to visit the different sites of the Karma Kagyu lineage that he takes care of in India and Nepal. Visiting these centres in Asia also provides the occasion to continue exchanges with the different qualified teachers based there\, so that we in Europe may benefit from their knowledge. \nTherefore\, despite his physical absence from Dhagpo Kagyu Ling\, Lama Jigme Rinpoche wishes to maintain the Chenrezig curriculum and retreat this February\, because it is above all a matter of establishing a profound meditative practice. Furthermore\, in these troubled times as we witness eminent masters dissolving their physical presence\, practicing the Buddha Dharma together is also a source of merit accumulation. \nJigme Rinpoche will intervene remotely at the beginning of the retreat in order to give instructions on the practice to be performed together. \nDetailed Program of the Retreat: \n\nWednesday February 25: Lama Jigme Rinpoche will speak remotely to all practitioners following the course. His talk will be streamed online.\nThursday 26 and Friday 27 February\, morning: sessions devoted to intensive Chenrezig practice\, streamed online.\nFriday February 27 afternoon\, Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1 mornings\, only on site: streaming of a teaching given by the Gyalwa Karmapa at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling.*NOTE: in order to respect Gyalwa Karmapa’s wish not to broadcast his teaching online\, these sessions will only be accessible in person at the DKL Institute.\nIn the afternoon\, repetition of the Abhidharma Kosha\, continuing on from previous retreats. Streamed on line.\n\nWe hope that many of you will be present so that together\, we may put Jigme Rinpoche’s teachings on the study and meditation of Chenrezig into practice. In this way we will be able to accumulate merit and practice with gratitude for the conditions that we enjoy at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling. \nYou will find the full adjusted program attached. \nThank you for your understanding. \nThe Dhagpo Kagyu Ling team \nFor any cancellation\, and in order to help us plan the number of meals to be served\, we kindly ask you to contact the reception as soon as possible at contact@dhagpo.org. It is possible to receive a refund for the retreat if you cancel your attendance\, or to offer your registration as support for the activities of Lama Jigme Rinpoche and Dhagpo Kagyu Ling. Please attach your bank details for the refund \n* Last update: 6/02/2026 \n \n Download the Program\n \n \n \n \n \n Jigme Rinpoche guides this study and meditation curriculum laid out by Shamar Rinpoche for the sixth year. This curriculum is for all those who wish to deepen their practice and will allow them to progressively acquire the necessary foundations for training in Chenrezig meditation and\, one day\, actualizing it. \nThe cycle takes place over the course of three intensive annual retreats. It is made up of themes to learn and meditations to apply. Between courses\, participants are asked to train in applying the instructions they have received. The content of each meeting depends on the evolution of the participants’ practice. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Teacher(s)\nLama Jigme Rinpoche guides the dynamic of each course. Students trained by Khenpo Chödrak Rinpoche offer support concerning the philosophical aspects. \n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n\nThis curriculum is part of the continuity of instructions that have been transmitted over the course of several years. We invite those who wish to discover this process of practice to participate in the Clarity and Compassion retreats\, which are also guided by Lama Jigme Rinpoche.\nTaking refuge is a prerequisite. This course cycle is intended for those who are already familiar with meditation and the ideas of Buddhist philosophy.\nTaking part in the fourth year of the cycle involves participation in the entirety of the three annual courses as for the previous years. It also means carrying out the practice of study and meditation in between courses sessions to the best of your ability.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Informations\n\nThe teaching is given is English and translated into French; for other languages\, please visit www.dhagpo.org/inscription\nIn order to allow as many people as possible to follow this teaching\, we also offer access via streaming on YouTube. For more information\, visit www.dhagpo.org\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Course fee: 25 €/day or 12.50 €/day for PASS holders.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Registration (Several options are available.)\n \nFor those who are already fully engaged in the curriculum\, it continues as usual. You may reserve your lodgings and meals through the welcome office by email to contact@dhagpo.org.\n\nFor those who wish to fully engage in the course:\n\n\nPlease send a letter of motivation to Lama Jigmé Rinoché. It should respond to a few essential questions. Briefly\, what has your journey been in the Dharma? What is your current practice and what subjects have you studied ? What is your goal in joining this course cycle? This letter should be no longer than one page (one-sided) and should be sent to retraite.jrinpoche@dhagpo.org.\nIf your participation is accepted to join the course cycle underway\, you will receive an email with access to the necessary documents for personal study of the subjects covered in the previous years.\nFurthermore\, the teachings offered in the annual program at Dhagpo allow you to review the subjects covered in the previous years.\n\n\n\nFor those who wish to participate in one or several of these retreats without necessarily committing to the entire cycle\, you may do so without sending a letter of motivation. You may register as usual with the welcome office as for any other course.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Generally\, when we physically attend this type of teaching\, we make a financial contribution to cover the expenses incurred by the center to make Dharma transmission possible. SUMMARY:Clarity and Compassion Study and Meditation Retreat
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT CHANGE * \nDear Dharma Practitioners\, \nFollowing the parinirvana of His Eminence the 3rd Mipham Rinpoche\, father of Thaye Dorje\, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa\, Lama Jigme Rinpoche had to travel urgently to India. \nLama Jigme Rinpoche will therefore be unable to guide his Clarity and Compassion retreat from December 29 to 31. However\, he wishes that the retreat be maintained with some adjustments to the program\, notably to include the practice of Amitabha and the recitation of Guru Rinpoche’s Seven-Line Prayer with its mantra\, as indicated by Karmapa himself. Lama Jigme Rinpoche also wishes that Khenpo Wangdu\, director of the Shri Diwakar Buddhist Academy in Kalimpong\, teach the chapter on Dependent Origination from Entry to the State of a Pandita by the 1st Mipham Rinpoche be maintained as a tribute to Mipham Rinpoche.  \nThese sudden upheavals are a reminder of the truth of impermanence\, which leaves its unpredictable mark on all conditioned phenomena. In this year end and given these circumstances\, gathering to practice together at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling\, the place where their Holinesses the 16th and 17th Gyalwa Karmapas and the 14th Künzig Shamarpa sealed the blessing of the Karma Kagyu lineage\, is undoubtedly a beautiful way to close Dhagpo’s fiftieth anniversary year and to begin the new one. \nWith best wishes from Lama Jigme Rinpoche \nThe Dhagpo Kagyu Ling team \nFor any cancellation\, and in order to help us plan the number of meals to be served\, we kindly ask you to contact the reception as soon as possible at contact@dhagpo.org. Please note that there will be no telephone reception due to the center’s closure until December 28 at 2:30 pm. It is possible to receive a refund for the retreat if you cancel your attendance\, or to offer your registration as support for the activities of Lama Jigme Rinpoche and Dhagpo Kagyu Ling. \n* Last update: 25/12/2025 \n \n New retreat program in PDF format\n \n \n \n \n \n The path offered by the Buddha consists in clarifying our minds so that we can be freer in our choices. Based on examination of our situation\, we become aware of our inner wealth as well as what hinders it. By relying on the explanations we receive\, we cultivate a quality of presence to ourselves and others. Based on a progressive process made up of teachings\, guided meditations\, and opportunities for exchange\, Lama Jigme Rinpoche shows us how we can start with ourselves to cultivate the qualities that enrich our daily lives and support the path to liberation. Over the course of each course\, Rinpoche focuses on a specific theme of Buddhism that leads to daily practice made up of clarity and compassion.\n \n \n \n \n \n SPECIAL PROGRAM: DECEMBER 31\, 2025 \nWe are pleased to announce that Lama Jigme Rinpoche will give the Bodhisattva Commitment during his morning teaching in the Institute. As the year ends\, receiving this Commitment together brings the commemoration of Dhagpo Kagyu Ling’s fiftieth anniversary to a close in an auspicious way and constitutes a commitment for the years ahead. \nHow to prepare?Lama Jigme Rinpoche encourages us to reflect on the meaning of this Commitment\, in particular by referring to Shantideva’s Bodhicaryavatara and The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva.Preparing to receive these commitments also involves accumulating merit by contributing flower\, fruits and vegetarian food offerings that will adorn the altar the day of the ceremony. It will be possible to make an offering on-site during the retreat. Please note that as with individual liberation disciplines or empowerments\, the Bodhisattva Commitment ceremony will not be broadcast online. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Just as all the Buddhas of the pastHave brought forth the awakened mind\,And in the precepts of the BodhisattvasStep-by-step abode and trained\, \nLikewise\, for the benefit of beings\,I will bring to birth the awakened mind\,And in those precepts\, step-by-step\,I will abide and train myself. \nBodhicaryavatara – Chapter 3\, verses 23–24 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lama Jigme Rinpoche was born in Eastern Tibet in 1949. He received the entirety of his spiritual education from the 16th Karmapa\, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje\, who he stayed with for numerous years of his training. After fifty years of tireless activity to make the Buddha’s message accessible in Europe\, Rinpoche has acquired a thorough knowledge of Westerners. His example and his accessible teaching inspire all those who meet him around the world. He is the 16th Karmapa’s representative in Europe and the author of numerous works. Some of his teachings are available on Dhagpo Kagyu Ling’s YouTube channel and as booklets.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Teacher(s)\nLama Jigme Rinpoche and the Students of the Institute \n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n\nCourse begins Monday\, December\, 29 at 10:30 a.m. with the repetition by the Institute’s students. SUMMARY:Kagyü Mönlams Great Accumulation of Wishes for the Happiness of Beings
DESCRIPTION:The Kagyu Monlams is one of the most important events for Buddhist practitioners of the Karma Kagyü school. During a full week\, they gather to recite wishing prayers for the happiness of all. \nThis 23rd edition of the Kagyu Monlams will be held in Bodh Gaya\, India\, where Shakyamuni Buddha realized enlightenment. Thaye Dorje\, His Holiness the 17th Gyala Karmapa\, will lead the aspiration prayers beneath the bodhi tree\, accompanied by great practitioners of the lineage. \nThe Kagyu Monlams are an opportunity for people from around the world to come together to recite prayers emanating from the profound wisdom of the buddhas and bodhisattvas. The power of these aspirations is exponentially multiplied by the gathering of thousands of practitioners who unify their wishes for the wellbeing and spiritual development of all. \nFor the sixth consecutive year\, we can join our prayers with those of Karmapa and the monastic sangha from the great temple at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling or online. \n \n \n \n \n \n Information\nIf you have any questions\, contact Dhagpo Kundreul Ling.

SUMMARY:Progressive Curriculum of Study and Meditation Chenrezig Curriculum: Year 8\, Course 1
DESCRIPTION:Jigme Rinpoche guides this study and meditation curriculum laid out by Shamar Rinpoche for the sixth year. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Teacher(s)\nLama Jigmé Rinpoché guides the dynamic of each course. Students trained by Khenpo Chödrak Rinpoche offer support concerning the philosophical aspects.\n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n\nThis curriculum is part of the continuity of instructions that have been transmitted over the course of several years. SUMMARY:The Sutra of Aspirations for Excellent Conduct Session 3
DESCRIPTION:Thaye Dorje\, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa explains the importance of the Five Royal Sutras that make up the paths of practice. Among them\, the Sutra of Aspirations for Excellent Conduct\, also known as Samantabadhra’s Wishing Prayer\, represents the path of aspiration. The bodhisattva Samantabhadra’s wishing prayers are a model for all to follow. They are recited regularly by practitioners of all traditions and are a path that\, as Karmapa says\, “is a way of consciously dreaming.” \nAfter having clarified the meaning of the Heart Sutra\, which presents the path of view\, Trinlay Rinpoche will begin the detailed explanation of the second of the Five Royal Sutras. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Trinlay Rinpoche\, born in 1975\, was recognized as a tülku—manifestation of a Buddhist master—by the 16th Karmapa (1923–1981 C.E.). He brings together a Western academic education and in-depth Buddhist training under the guidance of eminent masters like the 14th Shamarpa. His dual culture\, his mastery of three languages (English\, French\, and Tibetan)\, and his ability to communicate the depth of Buddhist thought in an accessible way make him an exceptional teacher. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n•  Translations: This teaching is given in French. SUMMARY:His Eminence the 4th Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche: The Torch of Certainty - Third and Fourth Parts
DESCRIPTION:Each of us has obtained a human existence. Its purpose is to enter the doorway of the Dharma\, and for this it is necessary for our minds to turn toward the Dharma. In order for our minds to turn toward the Dharma\, it is necessary to know the qualities of the three jewels and to develop convinced trust in them. This trust will not appear so long as we do not keep death and impermanence in mind. This is why we must begin by familiarizing ourselves with the impermanent nature of all things. The reminder of impermanence is born from understanding that it is difficult to find a human existence endowed with freedoms and wealths. The four common preliminary practices are the roots of practice. \nTranslation of the preface of The Torch of Certainty by His Eminence the First Jamgon Kongtrul.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n From Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 August at Dhagpo Kagyu LingFrom Sunday 24 to Tuesday 26 August at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling \n \n \n \n \n \n During these few days\, His Eminence the Fourth Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche continues to explain the work composed by his predecessor\, Lodrö Thaye\, His Eminence the First Jamgon Kongtrul. \nThe Torch of Certainty is an essential commentary of the Kagyu lineage that presents the foundation practices of mahamudra: the common ones (precious human existence\, impermanence\, actions—causes and effects—and the defective nature of the cycle of existence) and the uncommon ones (refuge and the development of enlightened mind\, the practice of Vajrasattva\, the mandala offering and the guru yoga). These practices enable the mind to turn away from samsara and prepare for the practice of Vajrayana. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n THE 4th JAMGON KONGTRUL RINPOCHE \nEarly Life and RecognitionBirth and LineageThe 4th Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche\, born on December 17\, 1995\, in Nepal\, is the son of the 2nd Beru Khyentse Rinpoche\, a revered master and lineage holder of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Born as foretold\, his arrival was prophesied by the late Chobgye Trichen at the Great Manjushri’s Temple. \nRecognition and Naming CeremonyIn 1996\, the young Jamgon Rinpoche met the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje\, who bestowed upon him the name Karma Mingyur Dragpa Senge Thinle Kunkhyab Pal Sangpo\, confirming his recognition. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The 14th Dalai Lama conducted the hair-cutting ceremony a year later. Under the guidance of Beru Khyentse Rinpoche\, the 14th Dalai Lama reaffirmed Jamgon Kongtrul as the reincarnation in 2000. \nEducationRinpoche’s early education included the Tibetan language and foundational practices of the Karma Kamtsang lineage.During his teenage years\, he studied at the Sakya Institute\, known for its rigorous discipline and comprehensive curriculum.Rinpoche received the three sets of complete vows: self-liberation\, Mahayana and Vajrayana vows.He delved into the study of significant Buddhist philosophies\, achieving notable results in Madhyamika and Bodhicaryavatara.Rinpoche received transmissions and empowerments from eminent lineage masters\, including the Chenrezig initiation from Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje\, Hevajra from His Holiness Kyabgon Gongma Trichen Rinpoche\, and many other transmissions from different lineages. \nThree-Year Retreat and Current ActivitiesIn the period from 2018 to 2022\, Rinpoche completed a traditional three-year retreat in Pharping. As a lineage holder\, he now divides his time between personal retreat and teaching activities. In 2017\, Rinpoche embarked on his first European tour\, bestowing teachings and empowerments upon thousands of students in various European countries\, such as France\, Germany\, Hungary and Poland. \nEuropean Tour and Global OutreachTogether with his father\, Beru Khyentse Rinpoche\, they lead the KhyenKong (Khyentse-Kongtrul) centers in Singapore\, Budapest (Hungary) and Warsaw (Poland). Rinpoche has also expanded his activities online\, offering more opportunities for students worldwide to attend teachings and receive transmissions from this highly realized master. \nSource of the biography:  https://jamgon-kongtrul.org/PRESENTATION/ \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Information\nThese teachings follow on from the explanations given by Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling and Dhagpo Kagyu Ling\, which began in 2024. \n \n \n \n \n \n Important information\n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche will confer the empowerment of Dorje Sempa according to the tradition of Marpa\, the morning of August 23 at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling and of Gampopa on August 24 at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n Registrations\n This event is limited to 600 participants. \nIt is indispensable to register ahead in order to reserve your place for the teachings as well as meals if you plan to eat on site. \nRegistrations\, here. \n \n \n \n \n \n Traslation\n This teaching is given in English and translated into French. SUMMARY:Gampopa Sönam Rinchen\, Dhagpo Lhaje\, Monk and Yogi
DESCRIPTION:Gampopa is a central figure in Tibetan Buddhism. He is the father of the Dhagpo Kagyu lineage and the teacher of Düsum Khyenpa\, the first Karmapa. Gampopa is particularly known for his teaching that combines the Kadam and Mahamudra traditions\, giving the lineage its unique character. \nWith his dual background as a practitioner and scholar\, His Eminence Trungram Gyatrül Rinpoche offers an overview of Gampopa and the distinctive nature of his teachings. \nIn this year celebrating fifty years of Dhagpo’s development and the Karmapa’s activity in the West\, Gyatrül Rinpoche\, at the invitation of Lama Jigme Rinpoche\, honors us by sharing the fruit of his knowledge rooted in practice. It is a new opportunity to discover our lineage\, draw inspiration from what has been accomplished\, and pay tribute to the masters who made it possible. \nHis Eminence Trungram Gyatrül Rinpoche will confer the Milarepa empowerment. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n His Eminence Trungram Gyatrül Rinpoche is the fourth Trungram Gyalwa Tulku of the Karma Kagyu lineage. He was recognized by Rangjung Rigpe Dorje\, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa. \nHe began long studies at Rumtek at a young age and received empowerments and teachings from all the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. His training in meditative practice was guided by the accomplished practitioner Khenchen Trinley Paljor Rinpoche\, with whom he spent nearly his entire life until the latter’s passing. He then acquired advanced university training in Taiwan and the United States\, where he received his doctorate in 2004 at Harvard with a thesis on Gampopa. He is fluent in Tibetan\, English\, Nepalese\, Sherpa and Chinese and possesses solid knowledge of Sanskrit\, Hindi and French. \nHis activity unfolds throughout the world through teachings\, the creation of centers for Buddhist study\, humanitarian associations (Nepal\, 2015)\, a nonreligious center for peace in Lumbini\, educational initiatives and more. Through these various activities\, Gyatrul Rinpoche promotes wisdom and compassion with a nonsectarian mindset\, allying the preservation and modernisation of traditions for a 21st century Buddhism. \nRead his full biography. \n  \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Informations\n\nCourse Begins: Saturday\, August 9 at 10:30 am\nHis Eminence Trungram Gyatrül Rinpoche will confer the Milarepa empowerment.\nTranslations: This teaching is given in English and translated into French. SUMMARY:Detailed Differentiation between the Three Disciplines Part 2
DESCRIPTION:In this work\, Sakya Pandita Künga Gyaltsen (1182–1251)\, one of the founding fathers of the Sakya lineage and an eminent teacher respected by all of the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism presents the three disciplines (dom sum) that support Buddhist practice: the disciplines of individual liberation\, of a bodhisattva\, and of the vajrayana. This text explains the precepts of each as well as the apparent contradictions between their different levels. Knowledge of the diverse disciplines associated with Buddhist practice is a prerequisite for any person who seriously undertakes the Buddhist path.  \nLama Jampa\, with his rich heritage from both the Sakya and Kagyü lineages\, will explain this text and clarify the divergent views concerning certain points. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lama Jampa Thaye is a scholar and meditation master in the Sakya and Karma Kagyü traditions. A British citizen born in 1952\, he has received teachings and empowerments from a great number of masters\, in particular Karma Thinley Rinpoche\, whose regent he became in 1988. He has taught at Manchester University\, where he received a doctorate for his work on Tibetan religious history. Today\, he teaches at KIBI in Delhi (Karmapa International Buddhist Institute) and around the world. He is the author of numerous works. Lama Jampa Thaye is appreciated for his knowledge of traditional texts and his ability to give commentary that is accessible for people in the West. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Important\n• While open to all\, this teaching requires some familiarization with Buddhist philosophical ideas.• Translations: This teaching is given in English and translated into French. SUMMARY:Introduction to Lojong A Taste of Mind Training
DESCRIPTION:Mind Training is a Buddhist method of the great vehicle that allows for change to occur in the mind that is ordinarily attached to its identity and lost in a form of self-complacency. This method allows for revealing the vast compassion and profound wisdom of enlightened mind.  \nBasing his explanation\, on the commentary by Karma Thinley Rinpoche (1931-)\, Lama Jampa Thaye will introduce the theme of the seven points of mind training over the course of this weekend.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lama Jampa Thaye is a scholar and meditation master in the Sakya and Karma Kagyü traditions.
