After studying the lay of the land and digging the foundations, the large works of the new residence for the Institute began with the placing of steel supports and casings required for pouring the foundations. The work was put on pause over the summer with a visit from His Holiness the Karmapa. Construction resumed in the fall when the walls constituting the framework of the residences began to take form. The natural incline of the land necessitates the construction of a solid foundation. At the same time, Dhagpo has cruelly lacked storage space; this caprice of the land provides the possibility to create (dry) storage spaces that are much needed. The walls continue to rise despite the cold and wintery conditions. We hope that this phase of the construction will be finished at the end of spring.
Here are a few photos and a video taken this past summer.
