From December 18 to 26, he stayed at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling to teach about the practice of Nyungne and confer several empowerments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dhagpo.org\/en\/after-losar-nyungne-season\/\">The first Nyungne retreat at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling<\/a> was held that same year, from February 29 to March 2. Bokar Rinpoche\u2019s teaching took place just a few weeks prior to Losar, the Tibetan New Year\u2014after which Nyungne retreats are generally held. <strong>Thus it allowed practitioners to approach the meaning of this meditation practice<\/strong>, which is a powerful means of purification, and to deepen their understanding. The Buddha stated that Nyungne practice definitively closes the door to rebirths in the six realms and enables rebirth in the Pure Land of Dewachen.<\/p>\n<p>During his stay, Bokar Rinpoche conferred the <strong>empowerment of thousand-armed Chenrezig<\/strong>\u2014 associated with the Nyungne practice\u2014as well as the six-armed Mahakala and Guru Rinpoche. In February 1983, it was Kalu Rinpoche\u2019s turn to bestow this same empowerment before the Nyungne retreat.<\/p>\n<p>Bokar Rinpoche\u2019s presence once again <strong>marks a strong connection with the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje<\/strong>, who recognized him at four years old as the reincarnation of the first Bokar Rinpoche. First raised in the monastery founded by his previous incarnation, he continued his education at Tsurphu under the personal guidance of the 16th Karmapa for three years. When he was still very young, he became the abbot of&nbsp; Bokar monastery, located close to Mount Kailash. During the Chinese invasion, <strong>he fled Tibet <\/strong>and joined the 16th Karmapa in Rumtek, Sikkim. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-zoom wp-image-332031  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/dhagpo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/02_Bokar_Rinpoche.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"315\" height=\"387\"><\/p>\n<p>After this, he met Kalu Rinpoche in India and became his main disciple. Under his guidance, he carried out two three-year retreats in Sonada, near Darjeeling, the seat of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage in India. When he came out of retreat, Kalu Rinpoche&nbsp; appointed him head of the Sonada retreat centers, while the 16th Karmapa entrusted him with those in Rumtek. Bokar Rinpoche also founded a retreat center in Mirik, in the Darjeeling area, more specifically for the practice of Kalachakra. After Kalu Rinpoche\u2019s parinirvana, Bokar Rinpoche succeeded him as the head of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As we have seen throughout this commemoration of Dhagpo Kagyu Ling\u2019s fiftieth anniversary,<\/strong> the historic temple has welcomed the most eminent masters of Tibetan Buddhism\u2014an entire generation of highly realized spiritual beings, forced into exile and who came to share the Buddha\u2019s wisdom in the West under the guidance of the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;on|on|off&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; text_font=&#8221;Roboto||||||||&#8221; text_font_size=&#8221;13px&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;1em&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||0px|||&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">These photos come from our archives or were collected as part of the research for Dhagpo Kagyu Ling\u2019s 50th anniversary. Du 18 au 26 d\u00e9cembre 1980, il s\u00e9journe \u00e0 Dhagpo Kagyu Ling pour enseigner sur la pratique des <em>nyoung-n\u00e9s <\/em>et y conf\u00e9rer plusieurs initiations.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/dhagpo.org\/apres-losar-saison-nyoung-nes\/\">La premi\u00e8re retraite des <em>nyoung-n\u00e9s<\/em> \u00e0 Dhagpo Kagyu Ling<\/a> s\u2019\u00e9tait tenue cette m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, du 29 f\u00e9vrier au 2 mars. \u00c0 quelques semaines du Losar, le nouvel an tib\u00e9tain, p\u00e9riode apr\u00e8s laquelle se tiennent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement les retraites de <em>nyoung-n\u00e9s<\/em>, l\u2019enseignement de Bokar Rinpoch\u00e9 permet donc aux pratiquants <strong>d\u2019appr\u00e9hender et d\u2019approfondir le sens de cette pratique m\u00e9ditative<\/strong>, un puissant moyen de purification. Il est \u00e9nonc\u00e9 par le Bouddha que la pratique des <em>nyoung-n\u00e9s<\/em> ferme la porte des renaissances dans les six classes d\u2019\u00eatres et permet de rena\u00eetre en la Terre Pure de F\u00e9licit\u00e9 (Dewachen).<\/p><p>Lors de son s\u00e9jour, Bokar Rinpoch\u00e9 <strong>conf\u00e8re l\u2019initiation de Chenrezik \u00e0 mille bras<\/strong> associ\u00e9e \u00e0 cette pratique des <em>nyoung-n\u00e9s<\/em>, ainsi que l\u2019initiation de Mahakala \u00e0 six bras et celle de Gourou Rinpoch\u00e9. En f\u00e9vrier 1983, ce sera au tour de Kalou Rinpoch\u00e9 de conf\u00e9rer cette m\u00eame initiation, avant la retraite des <em>nyoung-n\u00e9s<\/em>.<\/p><p>La pr\u00e9sence de Bokar Rinpoch\u00e9 marque \u00e0 nouveau un <strong>lien fort avec le XVI<\/strong><strong><sup>e<\/sup><\/strong><strong> Gyalwa Karmapa Rangjung Rigp\u00e9 Dorj\u00e9,<\/strong> qui l\u2019a reconnu comme la r\u00e9incarnation du premier Bokar Rinpoch\u00e9, lorsqu\u2019il n\u2019avait que quatre ans, D\u2019abord \u00e9lev\u00e9 au monast\u00e8re fond\u00e9 par sa pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente incarnation, il poursuit son \u00e9ducation \u00e0 Tsurphu pendant trois ans, sous la direction personnelle du XVI<sup>e<\/sup> Karmapa. Tr\u00e8s jeune, il prend la direction du monast\u00e8re de Bokar, non loin du Mont Kailash. Lors de l\u2019invasion chinoise, <strong>il s\u2019enfuit du Tibet<\/strong> et rejoint le XVI<sup>e<\/sup> Karmapa \u00e0 Rumtek au Sikkim.<\/p><p><img class=\"inline-zoom wp-image-332031  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/dhagpo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/02_Bokar_Rinpoche.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"315\" height=\"387\">Puis, c\u2019est en Inde qu\u2019il rencontre Kalou Rinpoch\u00e9 et devient son principal disciple. Sous sa direction, il accomplit deux retraites de trois ans \u00e0 Sonada, pr\u00e8s de Darjeeling, si\u00e8ge de la lign\u00e9e shangpa kagy\u00fc en Inde. \u00c0 sa sortie, Kalou Rinpoch\u00e9 le nomme responsable des centres de retraite de Sonada et le XVI<sup>e<\/sup> Karmapa le charge de ceux de Rumtek. Bokar Rinpoch\u00e9 fonde \u00e9galement un centre de retraite \u00e0 Mirik, dans la r\u00e9gion de Darjeeling, plus sp\u00e9cialement destin\u00e9 \u00e0 la pratique de Kalachakra.
