He was accompanied by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, one of his four sons and a schoolmate of Lama Jigme Rinpoche. In fact, <strong>they had studied <em>The Entry to the State of a Pandita <\/em>together!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Born in Nangchen, in the eastern Tibetan province of Kham, Tulku Urgyen was recognized by the 15th Karmapa Khakyab Dorje as both the <strong>reincarnation of Chowang Tulku<\/strong>, one of the five Terton Kings, the main revealers of secret texts hidden by Guru Rinpoche, and an <strong>emanation of <\/strong><strong>Nubchen Sangy\u00e9 Yeshe<\/strong>, one of Padmasabhava\u2019s twenty-five main students. From his earliest age, he remembered his <strong>wish to live in caves<\/strong> and practice meditation, and his deep trust in Milarepa and Longchenpa. Attending the teachings given by his father Tsangar Chime Dorje, he received the transmissions of the <em>Kangyur<\/em> (the collection of the Buddha\u2019s words), and Chokgyur Lingpa\u2019s <em>New Treasures<\/em>, a text that he transmitted many times in his life. He later studied Dzogchen with his uncle, Tulku Samten Gyatso, the grandson of Chokgyur Lingpa, who became his main teacher. <strong>He went on to study with great lamas of both the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions. <\/strong>After fleeing Tibet, Tulku Urgyen settled in Nepal at Nagi Gompa, an hermitage above the Kathmandu Valley, where he completed two decades of retreat. He established six monasteries, including Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling in Kathmandu, consecrated by the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje in 1974, as well as several three-year retreat centers. He transmitted the Dzogchen Desum teachings to the 16th Karmapa, as well as to Dudjom Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and to numerous disciples.<sup>[1]<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>At the request of the 16th Karmapa<\/strong>, who instructed him to \u201cmake the sun of wisdom rise in western skies,\u201d Tulku Urgyen travelled for the first time to Europe and North America in 1980 to give teachings on Dzogchen and Mahamudra. <strong>His visit to Dordogne was part of this first tour.<\/strong> From the following year onwards, Urgyen Rinpoche organized annual seminars for his students at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling in Kathmandu, a tradition maintained by his son Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche. He recounts his life journey in his spiritual memoir, <em>Blazing Splendour<\/em>, a living testimony to Tibetan Buddhism, passed down through several generations of realized masters, and the embodiment of the wisdom and compassion of the buddhas.<\/p>\n<p>Urgyen Rinpoche is recognized both for his profound realization of meditation and for his concise,\u00a0 spontaneous way of teaching Buddhist philosophy and practice\u2014not without a touch of humor, placing them in the context of his students\u2019 personal experiences in order to introduce them to the true nature of their minds. \u201cAll we need to do is totally let be and recognize our nature right now,\u201c he writes in his memoirs.<sup>[2]<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Thus, Dhagpo Kagyu Ling\u2019s newsletter reports that Urgen Rinpoche taught The Four Dharmas of Gampopa by encouraging dialogue, \u201cIn this way, he allows students to discover by themselves and within themselves the nature of their minds.\u201d These four dharmas\u2014succinct and easy to memorize\u2014include a vast and profound body of teachings and describe the path to enlightenment.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Dorje Purba ritual was celebrated for a week. Also<strong> known for his artistic talents, particularly as a sculptor, <\/strong>Urgyen Rinpoche created a mask of the protector Mahakala during his stay at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling, which was displayed in the historic temple. Pr\u00e9sent aux enseignements donn\u00e9s par son p\u00e8reTsangar Chim\u00e9 Dorj\u00e9, il re\u00e7oit des transmissions du Kangyur (la collection des paroles du Bouddha) et des <em>Nouveaux Tr\u00e9sors<\/em> de Chokgyur Lingpa, texte qu\u2019il transmettra \u00e0 de nombreuses reprises au cours de sa vie. Il <strong>\u00e9tudie le dzokchen<\/strong> avec son oncle <em>t\u00fclku<\/em> Samten Gyatso, le petit-fils de Chokgyur Lingpa, qui devient son principal enseignant. Il \u00e9tudie aupr\u00e8s de grands lamas de la tradition kagy\u00fc et nyingma. Ces quatre dharmas, succincts et faciles \u00e0 m\u00e9moriser, incluent un corpus d\u2019enseignements vastes et profonds et d\u00e9crivent toute la voie jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9veil.<\/p><p><img class=\"inline-zoom wp-image-332071  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/dhagpo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Cremation-GK-XVI-1080-x-1080-px.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"435\">Par ailleurs, pendant une semaine, le rituel de Dorj\u00e9 Purba fut c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9.<\/p><p>\u00c9galement <strong>connu pour ses talents artistiques<\/strong>, notamment de sculpteur, Orgyen Rinpoch\u00e9 r\u00e9alise, lors de son s\u00e9jour \u00e0 Dhagpo Kagyu Ling, un masque du protecteur Mahakala, qui sera expos\u00e9 dans le temple historique.
