The Shamarpa incarnations is the second line in the tradition of successive reincarnations that originated with the first Karmapa D\u00fcsum Khyenpa in twelfth century Tibet. This was instituted by the 3rd Karmapa Rangjung Dorje who presented his principal disciple Khaydrup Dragpa Senge with a ruby-red crown and conferred upon him the status Shamarpa that literally means \u2018Holder of the Red Crown\u2019.<\/p>\n

That ruby-red crown is a replica of the black crown worn by the Karmapas, and it symbolizes the inseparability of their spiritual connection as emanations of the same mind-stream as stated by the second Karmapa Karma Pakshi that \u201cFuture Karmapas will manifest in two forms\u201d. That statement was later clarified by the fourth Karmapa Rolpe Dorje who designated that the Shamarpa reincarnates as a second manifestation of himself.<\/p>\n

La continuit\u00e9 d\u2019incarnations des Shamarpas est la seconde dans la tradition des r\u00e9incarnations successives qui remonte au Tibet du XIIe<\/sup> si\u00e8cle et a commenc\u00e9 avec le Ier<\/sup> Karmapa D\u00fcsum Khyenpa (1110-1193). Cette lign\u00e9e d\u2019incarnations a \u00e9t\u00e9 formalis\u00e9e par le IIIe<\/sup> Karmapa Rangjung Dorj\u00e9 (1284-1339), qui a remis \u00e0 son principal disciple, Khedrup Drakpa Seng\u00e9, une couronne rouge rubis et lui a conf\u00e9r\u00e9 la position de Shamarpa, qui signifie litt\u00e9ralement \u201cD\u00e9tenteur de la coiffe rouge\u201d.<\/p>

Cette coiffe rouge rubis est une r\u00e9plique de la coiffe noire port\u00e9e par les Karmapas et symbolise l\u2019indissociabilit\u00e9 de leur lien spirituel en tant qu\u2019\u00e9manations du m\u00eame courant d\u2019esprit, comme l\u2019a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le IIe<\/sup> Karmapa, Karma Pakshi (1204-1283) : \u201cLes futurs Karmapas se manifesteront sous deux formes\u201d. Ces paroles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 clarifi\u00e9es plus tard par le IVe<\/sup> Karmapa, R\u00f6lp\u00e9 Dorj\u00e9, (1340-1383), qui a indiqu\u00e9 que le Shamarpa se r\u00e9incarne comme une seconde manifestation de lui-m\u00eame.<\/p>
