This text explains the precepts of each as well as the apparent contradictions between their different levels. Knowledge of the diverse disciplines associated with Buddhist practice is a prerequisite for any person who seriously undertakes the Buddhist path.

A British citizen born in 1952, he has received teachings and empowerments from a great number of masters, in particular Karma Thinley Rinpoche, whose regent he became in 1988. He has taught at Manchester University, where he received a doctorate for his work on Tibetan religious history. Today, he teaches at KIBI in Delhi (Karmapa International Buddhist Institute) and around the world. He is the author of numerous works. Lama Jampa Thay\u00e9 est un \u00e9rudit et un maitre de m\u00e9ditation des traditions sakya et karma kagy\u00fc. Citoyen britannique, n\u00e9 en 1952, il a re\u00e7u les enseignements et les initiations d\u2019un tr\u00e8s grand nombre de maitres, en particulier de Karma Thinley Rinpoch\u00e9 dont il est le r\u00e9gent depuis 1988. Il a enseign\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Manchester o\u00f9 il a obtenu un doctorat pour son travail sur l\u2019histoire religieuse tib\u00e9taine. Aujourd\u2019hui, il enseigne au KIBI \u00e0 Delhi (Karmapa International Buddhist Institut) et dans le monde entier ; il est l\u2019auteur de nombreux ouvrages.
