“Bodhicitta will never stop to benefit beings,” stated His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche upon arriving at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling on August 21, 2025. “I feel overjoyed by the fifty years of activity here and the flourishing of the Buddhadharma for the benefit of beings,” he said, honouring Lama Jigme Rinpoche for his profound commitment to fulfill the activity of the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rikpe Dorje, and that of Thaye Dorje, his 17th incarnation.

Over two days, in a packed Institute, Rinpoche continued his teaching on the preliminary practices that he had begun last year, drawing on Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Thaye’s Torch of True Meaning. He reiterated the importance of deeply understanding impermanence in our daily lives as the key to turning our mind towards the dharma and building our practice from within. By understanding the qualities of enlightenment, we will naturally turn towards the three jewels – the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. Through the study of dharma and through meditation, we will find refuge in our enlightened nature, Rinpoche explained. Visualizing Vajradhara (Dorje Chang) – the embodiment of the three jewels – and the refuge tree, is a way to develop a pure view and transform our ordinary way of seeing the world. In addition to this, we must develop devotion, cultivate bodhicitta (enlightened mind) and purify negative deeds. Following the commentary, Rinpoche also gave a precise explanation of the three kayas from both the perspectives of the sutrayana and the tantras.

On his last morning (August 23), Rinpoche guided over 500 practitioners through each stage of the empowerment of Dorje Sempa (Vajrasattva) according to the Marpa Lotsawa tradition, and blessed everyone gathered before departing to Dhagpo Kundreul Ling, where he continued his teaching, focusing on bodhicitta.

Over these days, Dhagpo organized worksite visits of the Institute’s Residences, giving visitors and practitioners the opportunity to create a connection with this project aimed at providing the conditions to study, meditate and take part in Dhagpo’s daily activity.

Here is a look back at these wonderful and intense days with His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, which filled everyone with gratitude.
