Buddhist Treasures of Knowledge: A Buddhist Study and Meditation Course

The Stages of Meditation–Session 1

On the request of the Tibetan King Mutig Tsenpo, son of King Trisong Detsen, the great 8th-century Indian pandita Kamalashila composed The Steps of Meditation (Bhavanakrama). The first of the three parts describes the steps of familiarization with mental calm, then higher vision, and lastly the paths and the grounds in detail. All later writings on meditation composed by Tibetan masters are based on this text. Khenpo Chödrak Tenphel Rinpoche will begin to explain this text in detail this year, allowing each of us to deepen our learning of Buddhist meditation.
