Keep the goal in mind and practice with the sincere wish to benefit others
It was with this advice that Lama Jigme Rinpoche opened the ninth year of the Chenrezig cycle, a progressive course of study and meditation. Over the course of these five days (October 14–18), Rinpoche gave instructions on essential points to guide our practice and enable us to reveal the qualities of Chenrezig within ourselves, such as trust, gratitude, aspirations, and blessings. Drawing on a text by the 2nd Shamarpa, Khachö Wangpo, titled The Meaning of Meditation, Rinpoche explained that:
We are the opposite of these teachings. We are attached to our sense of self and our way of things. Our perceptions are more tied to attachment than to freedom. So it takes time. Practice changes our perception. By trying to understand, through meditation and observation, the mind becomes more flexible and freer.
During the program, a visit of the construction site for the Institute’s Residences was organized, along with a presentation to all participants on this rapidly evolving priority project. A meeting of the urban centers (KTT) also provided an opportunity to review the first few months of the new academic year.
